Lake and Hills Garden Club (of Keowee Key) has extended a special invitation to residents of Keowee Key condominiums.
Did you know? You don’t need to have an in-ground garden to join garden club!
Garden Club is a great way to learn about our environment, socialize at monthly lunches at the Club, and go outside and have fun! We meet on the second Friday of each month (except July and August). In addition, we have 5-8 field trips to discover garden-related places nearby. No gardening or digging in the dirt is ever required, BUT for those who do want to feel some dirt between their fingers, garden club offers several opportunities as we work to beautify our neighborhood and the Oconee community. Garden Club dues are $25/year, plus a donation of an item valued at $50 for the annual auction. Come as a guest to a meeting and see what it’s all about! More details are on our website: www.lakeandhillsgardenclub.com
You are also invited to participate in Keowee Key’s certification program with National Wildlife Federation. If you have a balcony and a little creativity, you too can welcome wildlife to your outdoor space. Think small! Invite hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators by providing feeders and nesting places designed for them. Plant some pots with herbs or small flowers. Set out a saucer of water. (Please, no regular bird feeders). If you provide food, a nesting place, a place to raise young and water for wildlife, your outdoor space can be certified with National Wildlife Federation. Certification costs a one-time fee of $20. More details and certification information are on the website: www.nwf.org/certify. Keowee Key benefits with a community designation by having a percentage of our residents committed to wildlife conservation. Your participation becomes part of that process.
